    Getting Noticed!
One of the best ways to get your name out in your local community is to become a sponsor. A few hundred dollars gets your company name on little League caps; a little more, perhaps an ad at a roller rink. Donate money or materials to the local parade or a float. This buys goodwill and is great self-promotion. If you provide a service donate that. For example, when we operated a word processing business we offered to do resumes for free for those out of work. If you are a hair stylist, offer to cut hair free to senior homes, or for children. If you run a pet related business offer some free products or service. Every business has something they can provide for free, even if it is only your time. Be sure when you do something of this type to alert the local media. They love talking about what local businesses are doing for the community. However, do this sparingly. Don't over use it or it loses its effectiveness. In

    You Work For Your Customers
A company’s primary objective should be to serve its community. This isn’t some liberal, utopian, socialistic, touchy-feely sentimentality. This is a too little recognized and often overlooked factor in a company’s long-term success. The reason it is hard to believe is because we are confronted with daily headlines about greedy CEOs, profiteering multi-nationals and selfish companies of all sizes. The reason it is hard to follow is because too many business people take short-term views of their business. They don’t care what happens to the company, the product or the customer after they’re gone. They care about profiting from them all while they’re here.Hey, capitalism rocks! I’m not saying money is the root of all evil. On the contrary, I love money. But the only way to sustain your income (both individual and corporate) is to focus on your community, not the money.Certainly every successful businessper

Floor Mats for Your Business: Rent or Purchase?
There are two ways to obtain floor mats for your place of business. You can rent them from a janitorial supply and service business or you can purchase them outright. Ostensibly, the most cost-efficient method is to purchase your mats. However, there can be extenuating circumstances that lead you to consider renting your mats.If you rent your mats, a good service will provide a clean fresh mat upon pickup of the old. This may be once or twice a week. The rental will seem inexpensive-typically a few dollars per mat per week. If your business contracts all its janitorial services, this could be the most efficient means of providing clean floor mats for all your entrances and aisle ways. However, if you own a business such as a restaurant, hotel or office building where you hire your own staff to perform janitorial services, you should consider the purchase of your floor mats. Realize that any time you ‘rent’ a product,

Trapped in a Box: The History of Carton Revealed
We may not be aware of it but the simplest of materials we use for covering our food has been around for over centuries. Take a peek inside your pantry and try to see if you can find a milk carton, a carton full of eggs or even a carton of your favorite breakfast cereal.Indeed, this centuries old packaging material is the carton.Carton is often made out of a composite or of materials made out of two or more components. Cartons can be made out of a mixture of paper, pulp, wood or leaves. Its durability and stiffness makes it ideal for packaging heavy materials. The carton has existed even before food manufacturers have used it for carrying eggs, milk, cereals, baking powder and other types of food. Although there have been a lot of materials discovered and used for wrapping and encasing, the carton still remains one of the most often used for packaging. The carton first appeared in the 15th century in Chi

Private Nurses are in High Demand!
Private nurses provide services to patients whose medical condition prevents them from leaving their home. Private nurses offer their patients health care services and assistance in their own homes while they are unable to care for themselves. Often times, family members of the patient, while trying to care for them on their own, find themselves overwhelmed. More often than not private nurses will make periodic stops to the home to perform routine examinations rather than stopping by each day. Home care nurses care for patients with a wide array of ailments. The elderly account for the majority of patients who require home care. Other examples of patients who may need home care are those who are recovering from an accident or serious illness yet do not need to be in the hospital and children who were born with disabilities.Responsibilities of the home nurse include medical care but also may include things like supporting t
