One of my favorite stories about obtaining merchandise comes from Joseph T. Sinclair. In his book, eBay Business the Smart Way, he says:

“I talked with an eBay retailer who bought 3,000 heart rate monitors (for athletes) in Taiwan in a closeout and then imported them. I asked him, ‘Wasn’t that a huge number of monitors?’ He said, ‘yes’ but admitted, ‘If I didn’t buy the entire closeout, some other eBay retailer would buy the remainder.
