If You're a Struggling Scientist, a Shortcut to a Lucrative Career in Patent Law Awaits You
An article at CNN lists academic research scientists as one of the top three “Big jobs that pay badly”. The article states that this career track has “one of the most disproportionate ratios of training to pay”.I believe it.As a one-time research scientist myself, I experienced the low pay first-hand. In all honesty, it was barely enough to support my modest living needs, let alone a family. I found myself in the uncomfortable position of actually making less than a full-time waitress. This was with my Master’s degree in Molecular Biology working at a prestigious academic institute. And as much as I’d like to say it gets better with more education, I can’t. Unfortunately, the salary and job expectations only seem to only worsen with the degree level. If you’re a postdoc, you know exactly what I mean.Decades ago, the postdoctoral position was merely a “stepping stone” on the road to something bigger and b
Yeah, sure it's easy, and of course, that title is a little tongue in cheek. It takes a lot of hard work to get a business off the ground. But, it's worth every hour I've spent getting to where I am now.

When I decided to start my communication and image consulting business, I tried hard to find a good startup guide. I couldn't find any that had all the steps. So, I decided to write one. So far, it's mostly just the bare-bones outline (which is long enough as it is) you see in this article.

I'll be adding to it every week or two, and writing more detailed articles on all the steps, so try to stop by and check it out from time to time. Let me know how I'm doing. Shoot off an email to me if I've forgotten something or you have questions.

Before you spend so much as a dollar, talk to a few experts. Go to the library or get on the internet and research, research, research. Take a little time to make sure entrepreneurship is right for you.

Bodyguards: How Much Can I Earn As A Bodyguard
By now you've been asking, "How much can I earn as a bodyguard?" The fees associated with this type of work vary depending upon many factors, including:Your Prior Experience, Skills & Training Client Profile Level of Risk Amount of Travel Required Locale & Circumstances of the Detail Range of Duties for the PositionThere are no set fees for bodyguard employment. All fees are arranged by negotiation. The more skills you have, the more experience the more you can earn. A highly skilled bodyguard may earn $125,000 per year plus bonuses, but these are often positions with specific requirements, and locations around the world. One website we visited offered the example of a Female Bodyguard earning six figures, but bear in mind--she works in Saudi Arabia. She obtained the job because she spoke Arabic very fluently, knew how to live and abide by the moral ethic of the country. She was very skilled

Teaching Abroad – An Advanced Strategy for Landing the Perfect Teaching Job
If you have read any of the articles I have written prior to this, you will know I’m a proponent of spreading yourself around in order to secure a teaching position in an international school. This is the approach that I have used successfully and I still believe it is an excellent strategy for kicking off your international teaching career. However, I thought I’d better write an article on strategies for educators who are looking for their second or third overseas teaching position. Those international educators with some overseas work experience under their wing may choose to use this longer-term strategy to secure their next teaching position.Once you’ve been working in the international education sector for a while, you’ll soon come to realize there are international schools and then there are ‘international schools’. Some international schools are international in name only, some schools have student bodies that are populate

The Top 10 Ways To Improve Your Interview Body Language -- Part One
The following article summarises the top 10 ways to ensure that you show good interview body language. Make sure that all the preparation you do for a job interview isn’t in vain. Your body language is key to job interview success. The top 10 ways to improve your interview body language are as follows:1) Eye ContactThere’s nothing more off-putting to an interviewer than the interviewee being unable to make regular, good, strong eye contact. The interviewer may think that because you’re unable to do this, you either have something to hide or you may not have the conviction of your beliefs. If you’re struggling to concentrate when looking straight into someone’s eyes, then try looking in-between their eyes. They won’t be able to tell that you aren’t looking straight into their eyes, but you’ll find it easier to maintain focus. Try it with a friend first to see what I mean.2) SmileYou need to practice a st

    The Power of Habit
We are all creatures of habit, whether we like it or not. Even though our habits often keep us in our comfort zone instead of reaching our goals, habits per se are not necessarily bad. Without habits, we would have to make conscious decisions at every turn. Nothing would be automatic. We would have to think about everything from brushing our teeth and combing our hair to driving the car. Habits allow us to perform thousands of tasks and routines without causing a mental overload. The only pertinent question regarding habits would be: Am I willing to develop good habits or am I content to develop or continue with bad ones? We can make a habit our servant, or we can allow it to become our master. The following writing I came across several years ago. I found it to be a very powerful reminder for us all as it pertains to the habits we each hold on to so closely:Habit I am your constant companion. I

You’re not going to be the perfect entrepreneur. Nobody is. But in order to make yourself the best entrepreneur you can be, consider ways to compensate for any weaknesses you might have. I’m from Canada, so the government agencies I’ve mentioned in this guide are Canadian, but really, it can be used by anyone.

All you have to do, if you’re from somewhere other than Canada, is find out where you need to find some of the things I’ll talk about. Some of the steps might be slightly different, and you may not have to worry about things like GST for example, but I’m sure you’ll find this discussion helpful all the same.

These steps to starting a business are in reasonably good order, but you might find yourself varying from it under your particular circumstances. That really isn’t a big deal, as long as you get most of it done. There are some steps you’ll be able to skip as well, but please don’t skip any of the “big
