    I Won The Irish Lotto
If you receive a letter and a check in the mail, telling you have won some bit of an Irish Lottery, BEWARE!!I am Sherry Asbury and I live in Portland Oregon. In today’s mail there was a very authentic-looking check for $2,800 and some odd dollars, along with a letter telling me a computer had pulled my winning numbers. It seemed, at least for a few precious hours, that I might win the further amount of $120,00! This check was to defray the costs of winning an overseas amount of money. Some $5,000 would be taken out of the winnings for the “sponsor” who was helping me.Well, I thought to myself, that sounds reasonable. They do it for the funds. I showed the letter to our services co-coordinator (I live in in public housing for the disabled). He, too thought it might be legitimate. So I called Canada and spoke with Tracy Richardson of Alpha Finances. She bristled when I said I couldn’t believe it was real. Of cou

    (a) Identity Achievement-occurs when an individual has gone through an exploration of different identities and made a commitment to one.

    (c) Foreclosure-status is when a person has made a commitment without attempting identity exploration.

Maximize WOM in Your Services Marketing
I am completely at the mercy of my car mechanic. I don't know the first thing about car engines, so it would be very easy for a mechanic to charge me for services I don't actually need. In fact, it has happened. After being burned more times than I want to think about, these days I rely on trusted friends who know cars to refer me to someone who will take good and ethical care of my vehicle.Like my car care, the buyer of any kind of service must take the provider's word that they know what they are doing. Even more nervous-making, the buyer usually must pay for at least part of a service (i.e., a deposit) before it is delivered. Being invisible and intangible, services are only as good as the market's perception of them, and service businesses rely heavily on the endorsements made by satisfied customers to their friends, families, and colleagues.Word of mouth--WOM--has been the marketing mainstay of service firms since...well, s
    LAND OF DIMINISHED DREAMS

The year is two-thousand fifty –four,
The world is full of curses.
People walk the streets no more,

    No women carry purses.
The name of the game is survival now-

Safety is far in the past.
Families are huge with tons of kids

In hopes that one will last
Drugs are no longer looked down on,

They are a way of life.
They help us escape the wrenching stress

Of our fast worlds endless strife…
I wake up now-it was only a dream,

But the message was terribly clear.
We ‘d better think hard about the future

Before our goals and our dreams disappear.

    (Through the eyes of youth)
A rose called by any other name would smell just as sweet, wrote Shakespeare. So ,what is there in a name! But names do matter, names have their values, so does the “identity”. Who am I ?What is my identity? Where I was born? Who are my parents? What is my socioeconomic position in society? What is my caste? What is my religion? What is my nationality? What is my education? What is my profession? All these are parameters of “identity”.

There are many issues that today’s teenagers face. Probably one of the most common is the issue of individualism or identity. The growing rate of drug addiction, juvenile crime, maladjustment, violence, unemployment, parent-child conflict are amongst the serious problems of today’s youth.

Starting the discussion of this problem I want to remind the words of God In the movie “Bruce

Almighty” , “You asked me what is a miracle….When a teenage boy says “no” to drugs and says “yes” to school that is a miracle. In modern life for most kids to say “no” to drugs may be regarded as miracle.

Soumi (name changed) is 15 years old and pregnant. She reflects, ”I am 3 months pregnant. This could ruin my whole life. I have made all plans for the future and now they are down the drain. I donot have anybody to talk to about my problem.” These pregnant youths are a flaw in today’s social fabric. Like Soumi, far too many become pregnant in their earlier and middle adolescent years. Sixteen year old Jennifer (name changed) gradually eliminated foods from her diet to the point where she subsisted by eating only applesauce and eggnog. She was hospitalized and treated for Anorexia Nervosa, an eating disorder that involves the relentless pursuit of thinness through starvation. It can eventually lead to death, as it did for popular singer Karen Carpenter. In modern families, there are exchanges like this:

A fourteen year old boy tells his mother, ”What do you mean I have to be home by 10 P.M.”
Mother responds :”It is the way we do things around here”
Boy replies : “ Why do we do things around here this way? How backdated Culture?"
This parent-adolescent conflict is common during this phase.

    Are You Insuring Wisely
Before you call or ask for a quote, have your auto policy in hand. Inform the agent of your deductible amounts and limits of liability, medical payments, uninsured motorist, towing and labor and rental if needed. This way you are comparing exact coverages in comparing premiums.Multi line DiscountsAll insurance companies give discounts for multi line policies. Meaning that if you have your auto, homeowners, life, health or business insurance with the same company, these discounts will be applied to all policies. If you are satisfied with a certain company, it could be to your advantage to have them quote all your insurance needs. Many times you can save hundreds of dollars with multi line discounts.Auto DeductiblesThe comprehensive and collision deductible amount for your auto policy will greatly impact your premiums. Discrimination: What is it and how do I Prevent it?
Employers have a right to hire, promote, transfer, evaluate, discipline, layoff and terminate. Employers do not have the right to discriminate, harass, retaliate, or terminate wrongfully. So how can you operate your business effectively while still complying with the law? How do you ensure that you are maintaining an environment which treats people fairly? To begin, you need to understand the law and what you are required to do under the law. As an employer, you hear a lot about discrimination and discrimination lawsuits. So what is discrimination? In its simplest terms, it is treating a group of individuals differently. You cannot refuse to hire, promote, train, provide pay and benefits, or discharge simply because an individual belongs to certain group or protected classes. In other words, everyone must be treated the same.So what are these protected classes? Frankly, nearly all employees fall into one of the categories protect

Making the Deal: Women as Negotiators
Negotiating is no game. It is not for the weak or the fragile. It takes assertiveness and someone who feels comfortable in the mano-a-mano world of business. Can women negotiate the deal as well as their male counterparts? Absolutely! In some cases, they may even do a better job. Women have a definite edge at the negotiating table because of their instincts and natural power of persuasion.Women usually look for a win/win in negotiations. In Getting to Yes, the classic book on negotiation by the Harvard Negotiation Project, it was reported that the win/win strategy work best in negotiations. In order to avoid future resentments, all parties should come away feeling good about the resolution of a problem.Traditionally, it is thought that whoever is on the other side in negotiations is the adversary. However, women tend to want to develop a relationship with the other person and take into account the needs and difficulties

A New Way of Life in the Call Center: From Service to Sales
We’ve just received another training request to “support a culture shift,” transitioning inbound customer service representatives to proactive, outbound sales professionals. The stated business goal is to deepen client relationships with a large number of targeted clients that may not get enough attention from outside sales people. We’ve also found that many of our clients are in various stages of transforming their Call Centers from cost to revenue centers by adding cross sales goals to existing service goals. These changes represent a new way of life in the Call Center. We know that it can be difficult for many Call Center employees to successfully make the transition from skills needed to handle routine customer requests, questions, and problems to proactive sales skills, the ability to quickly identify customer needs and offer differentiated product solutions. While some are adjusting to their new responsibilities, it’s been an unwe

It has been found that those who have made a strong commitment to an identity tend to be happier and healthier than those who have not. Those with a status of identity diffusion tend to feel out of place in the world and don’t pursue a sense of identity.

Some strategies to reduce this problem

    • Understand the importance of autonomy and attachment
    • Keep parent-adolescent conflict from being turbulent and use good communication skills with the adolescent
    • Recognize the importance of peers, youth organizations and mentors
    • Help youth better understand the nature of differences, diversity and value conflicts
    • Let youth explore their identity.

In today’s rapidly changing world, identity crisis are more common today. Exploring different aspects of oneself in the different areas of life, including one’s role at work, within the family and in relationships can help strengthen personal identity.
