This targeting of one nation to the exclusion of others that have horrendous human rights records comes across as anti-Jewish, even racist - despite claims by UCU activists that they are not anti-semitic.

Demonizing Israeli academics along these lines is a bit like blaming every Israeli for the excesses of Zionism. How many Jewish families made their way to Israel after the second world war as Zionist crusaders? By far the majority of the returning Jews in the 40's and 50's were traumatized by mass victimization at the hands of the Nazis, whether or not they had been personally impacted. Politics was the least of their priorities. For the majority, the first priority was to find security, a home, a place of safety.
