Digg it UP - Fundraising Earns Our Group $75 an Hour!
Indian Aviation - Huge Job Opportunity , test a small portion of a window on your car and see if it scratches your window. When I first started I used one of those pot scrapers and it scratched my window. You can bet I didn’t use that one in our windshield wash.Aviation Industry as one of the hardest hit in the aftermath of terrorist strikes in USA on Sept 11 2001 forcing the closure of many a reputed airline likes of Swiss Air and American airlines. It is noteworthy here that even in these hard times Indian Aviation industry though minute could withstand this pressure and had grown leaps and bounds mainly due to the growth of Indian economy and tourism industry in particular in the last few years. It may be noted that in the last two years many a new airlines have come to the fore in a huge way and many huge industries have declared their wishes to enter into this industry. Another major leap was the open sky policy of Government of India permitting the existing private airlines in India to fly to foreign destinations. It does require a special mention that with such expansions planned by major aviation companies and new companies formed there is a vast manpower requirement. Qualified manpower is in huge abundance in India but they need a proper direction to capitalise on this surge in industry. When the human resources needed by these companies were less in number, it was easy to tap from a huge HR bank but when the demand for such HR increased they are finding it extremely difficult to maintain the quality of HR selected for these jobs especially when more and more foreign airlines are flying into India offering high salary packages forcing the better of HR to go with these companies. It is important to mention here that Indian aviation industry grew by 20% second only to BPO industry in services sector and then comes the concept of no frills After the window is cleaned with the cloth covered sponge and window cleaner, take a portion of the newspaper and dry the entire window. The black and white portion of the newspaper is perfect for this business. It is cheap, it dries the window quickly and it doesn’t leave streaks. Your customer will appreciate it. When the two cleaners are almost through, the spokesperson needs to approach the next vehicle, introduce self, and group and ask for the next job. Each windshield wash job takes as little as one minute to complete. After you do several jobs you will become efficient and get the job done quickly. Remember there will be others in your group doing the same thing so you can see profits mount up quickly. Most people donate at least 50 cents some $1, yet others especially if they are affiliated with the group will donate $5 - $10. Yaweeeeee! I have found from our observations that our group averages $75.00 per hour. You may do more or less than what we did. Important helpful tips: Use a grocery cart to place all of the used newspaper in for later disposal. Make sure you remove all trash from the site. Take it home for disposal and don’t use the stores trash cans. If you do, they will resent you for it and not let you come back. Have the group director collect all of the cash. This person can go around to all of the spokespersons and collect the cash and oversee the operation. Purchase new supplies needed from the cash you generate. This means less out of pocket expense for your group. If you are working several hours, take a portion of the profit and buy pizza and colas for your group. This isn’t hard work, but people do get hungry and thirsty and would appreciate a break. If your group is in a membership drive or has another cause, have the spokesperson give the donating person a brochure about your group. If you are a church group you may wish to give them a schedule of Project Management: The 3 Major Project Types Welcome to the wonderful world of fundraising through the windshield washing business. Sit back, grab a cup of coffee or cola, and relax as you learn from this manual on how you and your group can make up to $75.00 an hour or more for your groups needs.1. Civil engineering, construction, petrochemical, mining, and quarryingProjects in this category are those which spring to mind most readily whenever industrial projects are mentioned. Once common feature is that the fulfillment phase must be conducted on a site that is exposed to the elements, and usually remote from the contractor’s main office. These projects incur special risks and problems of organization. They often require massive capital investment, and they deserve (but do not always get) rigorous management of progress, finance, and quality. For very large industrial projects the funding and resources needed are often too great for one contractor to risk or even find. The organization and communications are therefore likely to be complicated by the participation of many different specialists and contractors, with the main players possibly acting together as a consortium or joint venture company.2. Manufacturing projectsManufacturing projects aim to produce a piece of equipment or machinery, ship, aircraft, land vehicle or some other item of specially designed hardware. The finished product might be purpose-built for a single customer, or the project could be generated and funded from within a company for the design and development of a new product intended for subsequent manufacture and sale in quantity.Manufacturing projects are usually conducted in a factory or other home-based environment, where the company should be able to exercise on-the-spot management and provide an optimum environment.Of course, these ideal conditions do not always apply. S The windshield washing business is a business in which you can earn profits quickly for just a little investment (approx $2.00). This is a simple business that really works. Because it is easy, please don't over look its simplicity without giving it an honest try. It works! We use Windex, Newspapers and a sponge to make $75.00/hour. Several years ago as Youth Director of the United Pentecostal Church in Hackberry, LA (a small town population of 2,500 people approximately 30 miles south of Lake Charles, LA) if was my job to raise funds for our various projects for our group or donation to other causes. In our fund raising efforts in the past, we have tried candy sales, pizza sales, item sales, walk-a-thons and all sorts of other gimmicks. Most of these brought poor participation and little income for our youth group. It seems if we wanted to raise money for our group it was struggle after struggle. Perhaps you are there now. When we came upon the idea of a windshield wash, at first it seemed a little CRAZY. Who ever heard of making money from a service as simple as this. WOW!!! .....That's a cool word, I'll believe I'll spell it backwards...WOW. Where was I. Oh yea. We were shocked at how fast this little business generates mountains of green stuff called cash. Zowee! We found the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. I have walked my last 10 mile walk-a-thon. No more candy and pizza sells. Keep your eyes glued to these simple pages and I will reveal to you how you can do the same for your youth group. Your gonna love this business. LET'S DANCE (Here is the juicy stuff you've been waiting for) The 3 items that you need to begin your windshield washing business are:
Perhaps you have these items lying around the house and it won’t cost you a cent to get started. I recommend 2 sets of the above 3 items for each group of 3 people in your group. If you have 12 people in your group, then you need 8 bottles of glass cleaner, 8 cleaning sponges and 8 newspapers. Don’t worry if you don’t have the money to get this right off the bat, as you can purchase more with profits you will make. Start with one set of the above items. Work this business according to our instructions, and soon you will have enough money to purchase many more sets of cleaning supplies. TIME TO GET STARTED Step 1. Decide where you want to conduct your first wash. When I lived in Hackberry, LA the decision was an easy one. I worked for the busiest business in town, a grocery store called Brown’s Food Mart. I spoke with the owner and he gave me the go ahead. If your town is big enough for a Wal-Mart or K-Mart, this is where I recommend going. I choose this for 3 reasons. Number 1 is because both of these companies are people oriented and like to help out the community. You should have no problem getting permission from the manager to conduct a wash. Number 2 reason is because every one goes to Wal-Mart or K-Mart and you will have an unending supply of people to donate to your cause. (We have also used large grocery store parking lots, so don’t limit yourself to the big boys, because it will work anywhere). Number 3 reason is you can supply your group with additional supplies as you need them without having to send someone for them. Step 2. Approach the Manager and ask his/her permission to conduct a Windshield Wash. Find out who the manager is and ask for an audience. Approach him/her and extend your hand in greeting. "Good Morning, My name is Al Pooser (only says this if it is your name. I say this because it is my name) and I am with Kidz 4 Kidz (I’ll explain why to use a name such as this at a later time) a local youth organization. We are in the process of raising funds to send our children on a missionary trip, raise money for the band, raise money for Girl Scout Uniforms or whatever your cause is. We would like permission to use your parking lot in a little fundraiser. We approach people and offer to wash their auto windshield for a small donation to help Kidz 4 Kidz! Once permission is granted, we simply apply Windex to the front windshield of the auto, scrub it with our sponge (at this point hand a sponge to the manager so that he can see it will not damage the windshield) and then dry it with newspaper. We then collect the money as they either enter or exit the store. We will make sure all newspaper and trash is picked up prior to leaving the parking lot and all supplies that we need will be purchased from your store." Inform the manager what day you will be on his/her parking lot and at what time you will begin. Step 3. Organize your group. I will spell it out step-by-step with a group as few as 3 people and you can upsize the supplies according to the number of people in your group. If you wish start with 1 each of the supplies, but I recommend to make it go faster and more profitable to use 2 or each of the supplies. You need a spokesperson for each group. This person needs to be outgoing and not afraid of speaking to someone. They need to be loud enough to be heard. Not the shy silent type, here. This person needs to approach the driver of the vehicle as they get out of the vehicle and say "Good Morning we are with Kidz 4 Kidz (or the name of your group) and for a small donation we would like to wash your windshield", then remain quiet. If the person ask a question, just answer it. Mostly they ask about your group or what you are raising money for, then they pull out change or dollars from thier pocket or purse and give it to you. Zowee! Time to go to work, you have hit pay dirt. "For a small donation, we would like to wash your windshield." This little saying speaks volumes. It is short, easy to say. It conveys to the person that you approach, exactly what you want. When you introduce yourself with the name of your group, especially if it is a youth group, people automatically want to help. It is a built in philosophy because people see so much bad press when it comes to youth, that when they see youth doing good they automatically wish to help. A little word about competition. It doesn’t matter how many groups are washing windows around you, the bottom line is competition doesn’t matter. You can have a group on every corner around you and it still wouldn’t bother your response. As soon as your spokesperson gets permission and collects the cash or check, the 2 others in the group approach the auto on either side of the front windshield. Each person sprays the windshield on the side that they are on. If they are not tall enough you might bring a small step stool from home to reach the middle of the windshield. After spraying a generous portion of window cleaner on the window (more spray is required in hot climate) take the cloth covered sponge and gently scrub the entire side of the window that you are working on. If you are unsure of the type of cloth covered sponge to use, test a small portion of a window on your car and see if it scratches your window. Soft Sponge – This is the type that has a sponge surrounded by cloth. The sponge holds the liquid for cleaning and the cloth aids in cleaning the windshield. NEVER and I repeat NEVER use the scouring pot scraper type cleaning pad. This makes tiny scratches on the windshield and you will be replacing windshields. You want to make money, not lose it. Fortunately, I used one of these on my own vehicle before we used this on customers vehicles. Newspaper – Your local town paper now becomes something besides bad news. Number 3 reason is you can supply your group with additional supplies as you need them without having to send someone for them.It used to be hard to buy books from Foyles, the world-famous bookshop in London's Charing Cross Road. The building was a warren; the layout was haphazard; staff were hard to find. To buy a book, you had to queue twice -- once to pay and get a receipt from some hapless cashier in a barred cage, and a second time to collect your books. No fun at all.Nowadays, it's a different store. There are friendly staff, clear signs, lifts, air conditioning, author events, a jazz caf?, a helpful website, the works. It's a pleasure to shop there.Somewhere along the line, Foyles realised it had to offer FRIES to its customers. French fries? No -- ketchup and grease on the books would be a bad idea. I'm talking about FRIES, the hugely popular business acronym that I've just invented.F is for Friendliness. The simple act of smiling and being friendly towards customers makes an incredible difference. The world's friendliest man works in MVC, a record shop near where I live. You can't walk out not smiling. (By contrast, I always used to walk out fuming from the local branch of Dixons electrical store. Before it was shut down.) And it's not just people - marketing materials, shop fronts and websites can be friendly or hostile too.R is for Reassurance. When you invest in a one-off product or service, it really helps to have some sort of reassurance about what you’re getting. Vast amounts of energy exist in any organisation. However, the organisation’s energy is dormant waiting to be harnessed and released by the correct stimulus.Organisations also have the potential to tap a special kind of energy that is released when the staff take on risks and challenges. People experience this energy in the form of exhilaration, enthusiasm, vitality and a sense of urgency. This charged-up one’s entire being creating the desire to excel, to win, and to belong. The creation of corporate energy involves everyone in the organisation. Every employee has a part to play regardless of location and division. It springs from something deep inside each person, which causes them to work enthusiastically, with their hearts and heads as well as their hands. Corporate energy drives employee commitment to rendering superb service. They must be empowered to change the course of events for the better if necessary. When the vitality of an organisation’s people is focused and applied collectively, almost anything can be accomplished.Corporate energy not only fuels organisations to grow spectacularly during good times but also grants them the inner strength to endure and survive the bad. It is garnered and unleashed when a few people at the top echelon demonstrate consistent leadership that are visible to their people. Today, in most large companies, half the available energy remains untapped. Effective leaders act as the c "For a small donation, we would like to wash your windshield." You can have a group on every corner around you and it still wouldn’t bother your response. When I first started I used one of those pot scrapers and it scratched my window. You can bet I didn’t use that one in our windshield wash. After the window is cleaned with the cloth covered sponge and window cleaner, take a portion of the newspaper and dry the entire window. If you are a church group you may wish to give them a schedule of Is Working 18 Hour Days Part of Your Business Vision Statement? , test a small portion of a window on your car and see if it scratches your window. When I first started I used one of those pot scrapers and it scratched my window. You can bet I didn’t use that one in our windshield wash. You've heard the sob stories.Seems like every business owner has his or her own story of working 18+ hours a day, seven days a week to get there business off the ground. If you get a group of business owners together, they all start moaning about how hard they work."I haven't had a day off in five years." one says."80 hours is a good week." another complains.Does it really have to be that way? Is that your business vision? The big question is, are you self-employed, or are you a business owner? They are not the same thing. If you are self-employed, your business depends on you.You are the person doing the work that brings in the money that pays the bills so that you can work even harder to do the work and pay the bills and on and on and on. If you are self-employed, don't be surprised if you are working more than employees. After all, you not only do the work of an employee, you also are responsible for all the support tasks that make that work possible. And that takes time. There is another way. Most likely, you started your business because you felt you had better skills or a better idea than other businesses out there. But you do not have to be your business. In fact, your business will not be able to grow unless you make it a point to get "you" out of the picture.Your business vision should allow for you to become the owner, not self-employed. From the beginning, focus on setting up systems and procedures, so your business can run your way, without you doing the work.I know it is "easier" to do it yourself, so it's done right. If you are a church group you may wish to give them a schedule of service about your group. If you are the scouts, you may wish to give them a flyer about your troop. If you have another profit making program, such as a coupon book that you sell, now would be a good time to give them a flyer on it. After the fund raiser is over, I would suggest a time during your next meeting to honor all of those who attended and participated in this fund raiser. You might want to give honor unto those who did an excellent job, or maybe award some sort of prize for all participants. They will then jump through their skin to do a better job next time. Here is a word about alias names. If you belong to a church or other group and they perceive this as a nuisance to ask people for money, you may wish to use an alias name. Kidz for Kids is a great name for a Church Youth Group. Instead of using "Good Morning, We am from the 1st Self Righteous Church, and for a small donation we would like to wash your windshield." The Church may have a problem using the church name or some donator may have a problem donating to churches, you solve this by using an alias. My friend Kevin came up with the name Kidz 4 Kidz. Catchy name. It speaks volumes. People like to donate to youth organizations. So if anyone has a problem with using the name of the group, I would suggest an alias. Of course if you have a name like Boy Scouts or Girl Scouts, I would leave it as such because of the name you will do tons of business. Best of all good luck and have fun.
