When we said dentists are trying to put themselves out of business, this is one of our examples. They want the X-Rays so they can find the problem when it first is detectable. They are not trying to torture you, make you gag, run up your bill, etc...

They need to be able to see things that are too small to be seen or felt by you the patient. They want to limit the time you are missing work, and they amazingly are trying to save you money in the long run. I know this type of reasoning goes against everything you have thought about your dentist, but that is the real truth to why your dentist wants you to have regular dental X-Rays.
