In addition, these rats also showed an overall improvement in the pancreas and kidney functions. Dr. Darwin J Prockop, director of Tulane University's Center for Gene Therapy drew some very positive conclusions from the fore mentioned research. Dr Prockop believes these results suggest possible new treatments for people with diabetes, and especially for the 8 million people in the United States alone whose worsening diabetes is causing kidney failure.

Although science has not officially found a cure to diabetes, research proves that the world is on the brink of a breakthrough. Adult stem cells derived from the bone marrow have shown to be effective in the regeneration, restructuring and rejuvenation of organs that are effected by diabetes.
