The Impact of Oil Prices on the Freight IndustryInstability in the Middle East and threats to geo political harmony from Iran are combining to hike up oil prices around the world. This is having an impact at all levels from big business to consumers; and the freight industry in particular is under strain as a result. In the UK petrol prices are reaching record highs which is affecting the cost of road freight transportation. However, it is not just road freight which is affected by increasing petrol prices. Air freight is also under strain. This is illustrated by the fact that Boeing lowered its annual growth rat hat can be focused on fixing that which is within your influence, and those of your people. This can be your own version of the 'Broken Windows' or graffiti analogy that Giuliani uses so well - applied locally by you. So, for me, 'Perfection in Presentation' is:-

Facts About FACTA, Or What Does FACTA Mean To You And Your CompanyFACTA stands for Fair and Accurate Credit Transaction Act. The law went into effect Jan. 1, 2005. FACTA is the law which allows all Americans access to their credit report once per year. So what does that have to do with you?On June 1, 2005, a new provision of FACTA went into effect. It says that any employer (even if you only employ one person) whose action or inaction results in the loss of employee information, can be fined by federal and state government, and sued in civil court.
Bet you didn't know that. But you need to know, and need to know what you can do to pr My background is in retail management - yes, running stores, from tiny ones you couldn't swing the proverbial cat around in, to huge three floor jobs. Yet there are some guiding principles which, like Giuliani did for New York, that make a difference on a smaller scale. Guiding principles which make a huge, possibly unseen difference to your customers and no less so to your employees.I'd like to suggest that, on the basis of 20% of the focus gives you 80% of the return, acting in just two areas of fine detail will make all the difference in a retail business. As they say - 'Retail is Detail'
- Presentation
Making a difference in the presentation of your store sets a tone for who you are as a business and for your customers, what they can expect from you. And this needs to come from you, the leader of the business and very clearly. Indicating what is acceptable in terms of how you display the merchandise, how you use display materials, where your focus and priorities are is very important. As you provide the lead, others will follow. If you do it in a positive, constructive, even coaching way, they will learn, deliver consistently and even generate their own ideas. Once established, this becomes a culture of 'the way we do things
around here'.Presentation is perfection within the constraints of what you are able to do. Focusing on what you can't do, for maybe want of financing, is a waste of time and energy. Time and energy that can be focused on fixing that which is within your influence, and those of your people. This can be your own version of the 'Broken Windows' or graffiti analogy that Giuliani uses so well - applied locally by you. So, for me, 'Perfection in Presentation' is:-

Time Management & The Home-Based Business - Daily Habits Every Effective Leader Should KnowI had worked for someone else as an employee for my entire former career. I would wake up early in the morning, drive to work, put in 8, 9 or more hours, with an hour for lunch in the middle, and then come home. My day was scheduled out for me. I did this each day by habit. I was accountable to my boss, who expected me to be there at a certain time and perform my assigned duties. Not so for the home business entrepreneur. You started a home-based business to be personally and financially successful. Perhaps, like me, you were looking for some time freedom, desiring more t ur employees.I'd like to suggest that, on the basis of 20% of the focus gives you 80% of the return, acting in just two areas of fine detail will make all the difference in a retail business. Introduction to CRMCustomer Relationship Management has been with us over the ages, for as long as people traded with each other. In those days, the physical closeness in location between the customer and the supplier led to the relationship. Even in less developed countries and traditional societies such business models currently still exist. People congregated on market days and the customers usually buy from people they know, have bought from before. The supplier also knew his customers well, what they liked, how they liked it, what they did not want, and was able to deliver t and for your customers, what they can expect from you. And this needs to come from you, the leader of the business and very clearly. Employee Health BenefitsMost employees consider healthcare coverage the most important of all employee benefits. At the same time, it is an attractive benefit for many employers too. By pooling risk, business houses can buy health coverage much more cheaply than individuals. Tax benefits also ensure that healthcare is a very cost-effective way to compensate employees. There are three popular health benefit programs for employees: traditional, HMO, and PPO. Some employers will offer just one or two of the three. Other business houses, especially ones with a diverse group of employees, will opt fo uctive, even coaching way, they will learn, deliver consistently and even generate their own ideas. How to Brand a Small BusinessAnyone who says you cannot brand a small business have never studied how Franchise Companies start and grow in their communities and then end up taking out the competition for regional domination. Sure you can brand a small business, heck I did and within a 8-year period I took my well-branded small business and turned it into a much larger business in 23-states, 4-countries, 450 cities and 110 major markets, it can be done. Many marketing consultants and gurus say that marketing brand for small business cannot be done. Others agree that it can be done. I am in the camp w hat can be focused on fixing that which is within your influence, and those of your people. This can be your own version of the 'Broken Windows' or graffiti analogy that Giuliani uses so well - applied locally by you.So, for me, 'Perfection in Presentation' is:-
- Having the products you sell available at all times for your customers
- Being clean
- Removing debris (like sticky residues from old showcards and stuff like that)
- Making checkouts available for just that - taking cash quickly and not selling stuff
- Reducing 'visual chaos', which is intimidating for those very people you are trying to get into buying mode - your customers
- Experiencing the experience - through visiting your own store as a customer and seeing just what catches your eye
Bottom line is that you need to have a focus of perfection yourself, lead your people through it and, over time, they will deliver for you. And you know what, they will make sure that everyone who starts new with you works that way for you. - People
Your people are your most valuable asset. Working in a sharp end customer-facing role is challenging and tough. If you are a true leader in the retail business, you will have worked the tough shifts and the most challenging spots in your store. So you know how tough it can be. Yet there are standards here too - making them clear to everyone is a vital first step.Yet there is a service you can and must provide for your people. Simple things that need fixing before they can be on top for to play their part in representing your business. Finding out about what will make a difference, those multitude of little things that get in the way of perfect performance can be challenging.

Cheap or Free Off Line Methods of Advertising
The internet has widened the horizons for businessmen inasmuch as it has provided an innovative method for advertising and marketing. Ironically, though, it has also narrowed the field for some (especially those whose business resides strictly online) who have been led to think that internet marketing is the only way to go for it,s relatively cheap, it has a wide reach, etc. While it,s true that internet marketing brings a lot of advantages, it's not wise to neglect off line methods altogether.
