Opiate addiction is a growing disease in the United States. Many people are unaware of just how quickly this extremely addictive drug (all forms of opiates) is taking over our country. Many people are also unaware that this addiction is a disease, but I will not touch on that in this article.

The people abusing this drug are becoming younger and younger, some being as young as eleven and twelve years old.

Opiates would include drugs such as percocets, oxycontin, dilaudin and heroin. This is just a few of the more popular forms opium.

As a former opiate addict I am well aware of this disease. I have been through it all. The ups, the downs, and a world of pain from withdrawal the many times I tried to quit.

Many opiate addicts start with pills such as percocets. It starts off as an innocent abuse of the drug "every once in a while". Maybe there is someone at a party with a bunch of them and you buy a couple to have a good time...just for the night.

Then of course the other major way that people get addicted is when they have an accident that requires pain medication, yet once the pain stops the use of the drugs does not stop.

I will try to explain the effects of the drug as best as I can. The best word to describe the drug's feeling is "floating in heaven".

Your body feels numb and tingly. Your mind state is utter happiness, and it makes you very sociable.

A couple percocets with a couple beers a couple times a week quickly turns into a few percocets almost every day. And then comes other forms of opiates because percocets are not always accessible to most people and the withdrawal from this drug (any form of opiates) is complete hell.

Oxycontin is usually next, often being crushed down and snorted up the nose.

Then a couple beers later, and with no access to percocets, vicodins, roxicets, or oxycontins comes the devils drug - heroin. Maybe a "friend" will tell you that is no different than pill forms of opiates and it is cheaper - putting it right in front of your face. Judg

    Electronic Pennies
When I removed the inside moldings around a window in our house, 1 found six old pennies. Since the house had once served as a kindergarten, I supposed that playful kids had pushed the coins into the space, making a kind of time capsule for me to discover so many years later. It was fun to notice that one of the pennies was zinc, minted in the years of copper shortage of World War II suggesting a time for the kids’ game. The copper cents were greenish with age. Then a thought occurred to me. I wondered if the Washington bureaucrats

Charismatic Communication: How Self-Focus And Narcissism Destroys Your Potential As A Leader
Social commentators and communication gurus often lament that people ecology (empathy, interest, curiosity in others and the spirits of equality and fraternity) has been replaced by fragmentation of communities into cliques and clans which have little interest in anyone outside their own physical, ideological or socio-economic territories. They claim we’ve created an increasingly selfish and self-seeking culture, evidenced by everything from bad driving behaviours to the callous disregard for the poor. So, let’s talk about narcissism,
al from this drug (any form of opiates) is complete hell.

Judgment impaired, and fiening for any form of opiate - you will do the drug that "you will NEVER EVER touch" - heroin.

I know, I know...YOU would NEVER do heroin.

Get caught up in an opiate addiction, go with some withdrawal (even mild withdrawal) - and your chances of doing heroin go up more than I can explain. Especially if you know people who can access the drug.

I have seen the best of friends, multiple people, go through this cycle.

It doesn't matter what the background is. Sport superstar from upper class. Top GPA in high school. Lower class, poor grades. Middle class, average student. It simple does not matter what kind of person it is or what their background is.

The opiates simply take over your brain and body. It's like you almost have no control. I have seen those with the best of self control be plagued by the disease and continue to be plagued by the disease. Out of about 30 friends that I have seen go through the cycle of opiate addiction - I have seen 0 become totally clean. That's right...besides myself I do not know one person that has successfully quit doing opiates once they got caught up in the addiction (and I have only been clean 3 months so there, of course, is a chance of a relapse).

America needs to wake up and teach our kids about this horribly dangerous and deadly addictive form of drug.

You or your kids could be the next person to try the drug that you "would never even think about trying".

Trust me that it can sneak up on you like a snake in the grass. It's like you have no idea how you got caught up in this whole mess until it is too late, and it has you gra
