The congregants were encouraged to shop online with a personal identification number that would guarantee special savings and discounts. Plus, the church would receive a percentage of the profits each time a purchase was made. Now, some would argue that this kind of blatant promotion is inappropriate and should not be embraced by the church under any circumstances. Others would say it’s a great idea to simultaneously offer benefits and incentives to congregants, and generate revenue for the ministry. What do I say?
