I attended a health-focused seminar in sunny California earlier this month. It took several days for me to process and integrate most of what I experienced during the two-day event.
On Saturday morning, the second day, Dr. Ted Morter, Jr., with Morter HealthSystem, began by asking two volunteers to join him on stage. Nothing was said about what the volunteers would be needed to do. Two people, a woman and a man, were selected from a number of eager volunteers. While they were getting ready, Dr. Morter explained what was to happen next.
A six-foot long piece of rebar used in building homes, buildings or streets was brought out that had rubber-cushioned tips on each end. The bar was positioned in the soft spot of each volunteer's throat. Each volunteer was invited to state their intention for the day to the audience of 400+ people. The man, John, was to nod his head when he was totally focused and ready to move toward Jane. John nodded his readiness, then Jane nodded her being ready also.

While the audience totally focused on bending the rebar, John and Jane quickly moved toward each other. The rebar bent in half as expected. However, it slipped off Jane's throat, glanced over to her shoulder and caught in her clothes. It felt like everything stopped for one second. The audience's intention was fulfilled and Jane was not injured.

The process was begun again with each one stating their intention to the audience. The rubber-tipped rebar was placed in the soft spot of their throats. Everyone was totally on the edge of his or her seat. The audience continued focusing on bending the rebar. John and Jane again signaled their readiness. In a split second, they rushed toward each other and hugged with the bent rebar between them.
It was a stunning visual demonstration of the power of intention. The energy in the room was totally electrifying. John stated he had previously walked on hot coals and broken boards, but had never felt the high energy that this experience created for him.
