You often think that you will be happy when you graduate from college and get a good job, when you get a raise, when you get married, when you buy your dream home, . . . the list goes on and on.

Life is a work in progress. You must work to buy the things you need and pursue the hobbies and things that make life worth living. You will never reach a time when you have everything wanted and circumstances are perfect. Life does not work that way. There are always challenges you must face. Those who become successful must continue to work hard to stay successful. Those at the top of their game have to work hard to stay on top.

The problem is that most people approach happiness from the wrong direction. Seriously distressed people need professional help. The rest of us should be capable of changing our focus. Instead of thinking you will be happy when, you should decide that you are going to be happy now, in spite of your circumstances. Happiness is a mind set. Waiting until you solve all your problems, or pay off your house, or sometime, would mean unhappiness most of your life. If you put off happiness until circumstances are just right that day will probably never come. Happiness was meant to offset your frustrations now, not waited for.

Most of the things that keep us from it are not that important. Jesus promised to take care of our physical needs if we take care of his business (MT 6:33). We should let him handle them.

The more you study the Bible, the more faith you will have.
