    Business Planning Overview
The successful entrepreneur is generally more inclined, once a business idea is selected, to sharpen the concept by a detailed planning process. The result of this step is a comprehensive business plan, with its major components being the marketing "mix," the strategic plan, operational and logistical structures, and the financial proposal. The purpose of the business plan is to recognize and define a business opportunity, describe how that opportunity will be seized by the management team, and to demonstrate that the business is feasible and worth the effort. The business plan is the "blueprint" for the implementation process. It focuses on the four major sub-plans: marketing; strategy; o

How to Hire Industry Experts For Free
If you follow the process for inventing outlined in my book, Inventing on a Budget and Cashing in on the American Dream, you will be hiring team members either entirely on contingency, or on a part-fee/part-contingency basis.Hiring on contingency means that instead of paying money upfront for services rendered, you pay your team members as a percentage of any net profits realized from the project. This payment structure has a number of important advantages over paying someone upfront.1. You only pay out if you realize a profit. Most of your projects won’t realize a profit. Paying team members on contingency helps keep your upfront costs low and team members (including yourself)

The problem is you don't realise you have fallen into one of these holes until someone points it out. Marketers tend to be stubborn and suffer from tunnel vision - hopefully these may help you kick a few bad habits...

    1. Procrastination

Putting things off is a killer where this career this is concerned. You NEED a plan and some kind of time management system in place. Prioritize your tasks and keep lists of everything that needs doing. And no matter how much you don't feel like doing something just get it out of the way and NEVER leave it untill the next day!

TIP: Use post-it notes. They are low-tech but work great :-)

    2. Striving for Perfection

You'll likely never have a "perfect" website or product but you know what? It doesn't matter! It's important you get started as soon as you can and make your site "live". Four Employee Behaviors That Can Kill Your Business
I found it important to clarify for employees what “deal-breaker” behavior was at my company. These are the things I insisted would not be tolerated and would lead to immediate or ultimate termination, depending on the nature of the infraction of these hard and fast rules. Here are the behaviors I would not tolerate:1. Gossip. Rumors can be incredibly disruptive to a company. A lack of information can get rumors started, and frank explanations can usually stop them. However, some employees thrive on the admiration of others when they seem to be “in the know.” Define gossip as clearly as you can and tell employees what you expect them to do when they hear it. First and foremost, that you d

The Internet Will Set You Free
The Internet Lifestyle.I love the Internet! More specifically I love the ability to work at home and at the hours that I choose. And I actually really enjoy the process of Internet Marketing. The thrill of pinging a freshly posted blog, the satisfaction of hitting the top spot in your keyword, but we will get to that. Beware it's addictive! In my situation, I was living in a rural economically depressed area, unemployed, and expecting my third child. I had owned a Travel and Tour Company but had not been able bounce back from 9/11 and I really wanted to somehow be a stay- at- home Dad. The Internet already played a huge role in my life as it does in many households today

Advergaming: Marketing's New Advertising Miracle Cure?
Any basic marketing class begins by introducing its students to the “Four Ps of Marketing”--Product, Place, Price, Promotion. Most business gurus will tell you that of these four, Product is the most important. Your product must have a unique value to the consumer or it won’t sell. Today, with virtual instant communication, it could be argued that PROMOTION is fast becoming Product’s equal when discussing marketing principles. If you promote your product in such a way as to capture the attention and hard-earned dollars of the prized consumer before any competitor has the chance, you’ve won the biggest battle in the marketing war.And marketing IS a war. Companies spend millions of dollars

    The Leaderrship Manfesto
I travel all over the world as both a trainer and a speaker, and leadership development is the focus of my work. I work with companies of all sizes: small, medium, large, and corporate giant. In doing this, I have come to a realization - it is time for a revolution in the way we think about, train, and develop leaders. In fact, let’s just scrap it all and start over. The way in which we view leadership development now is worthless. Why do I make such an outrageous statement? I see managers and leaders who are failing themselves, failing their teams, and failing their companies. Their companies, of course, failed them first, by never providing the proper training for their leadership roles.ed as soon as you can and make your site "live". TIP: Update your site daily in little ways, it saves doing everything at once and the search-engines it too.

    3. Wasting Money

This one is important. Especially if you don't have money to burn! Don't get caught up jumping from opportunity to opportunity or buying everything that lands in your inbox. You'll be surprised how much you can get for free. Trust me - you don't need half the stuff you see online. Try to control your emotions and think before you buy. Write a list of pros and cons, and make sure that the product or service is essential to YOU.

TIP: Look for reviews by people without a vested interest in the product and ask questions in forums.

    4. Not Spending Enough

Unfortunately you have to spend a little. It won't be much starting out, but you will need more as you grow. For a start you'll need a domain, a host, an autoresponder - but these are pretty affordable these days. The bulk of your expenses will be on promotion, usually ezine ads or pay-per-click. If you're paying someone to create your product or you're buying resell rights then this is
