My Big Fat Greek Miracle - A Family Physician Steps on the Scales and Takes a Swing at Weight Loss
After a long day of seeing patients at the community health clinic, Dr. Nick Yphantides (who’s Greek name is pronounced Eee-fahn-tee-dees) liked to reward himself by driving through his favorite fast-food joint, In-N-Out Burger, and ordering a “4 by 4,” large fries, and a Coke. The “4 by 4”—four hamburgers and four slices of American cheese stacked in a hamburger bun with all the sauce and trimmings, plus the deep-fried fries and 16-ounce Coke—contained 1,400 calories and 100 grams of fat, but that didn’t bother Dr. Nick a twit. In his mind, the drive-thru forays were just a snack, something to eat before dinner. He was hungry — and fat. Dr. Nick had been gaining mounds of weight ever since medical school, when he fortified his late-night study sessions with Ding-Dongs and heaping bowls of Rocky Road ice cream. During interminable forty-hour shifts as an intern, he kept up his energy by raiding the hospital canteen, where someone had set out a plate of sweets to be shared by the attending staff. When he entered the

The Constitution - What the Heck Does It Really Say Anyway? Part III
Section. 7Clause 1: All Bills for raising Revenue shall originate in the House of Representatives; but the Senate may propose or concur with Amendments as on other Bills. All spending bills have to come from the House of Representatives, but the Senate can amend the bills, add some stuff, or cut some stuff out.Clause 2: Every Bill which shall have passed the House of Representatives and the Senate, shall, before it become a Law, be presented to the President of the United States; If he approve he shall sign it, but if not he shall return it, with his Objections to that House in which it shall have originated, who shall enter the Objections at large on their Journal, and proceed to reconsider it. If after such Reconsideration two thirds of that House shall agree to pass the Bill, it shall be sent, together with the Objections, to the other House, by which it shall likewise be reconsidered, and if approved by two thirds of that House, it shall become a Law. But in all such Cases the Votes of both Houses shall be de
Baseball might be known as the national past-time, but there is little debate about what sport Americans are most passionate about, and that is NFL football. In many sports markets around the nation, the NFL is a topic that never leaves the radio airwaves regardless of the time of year. It is late April, the 2006 MLB season is off and running, and just in case you haven't noticed, the NHL and NBA playoffs have actually already begun. But turn on your favorite sports talk radio station and the NFL draft is dominating all other topics in the world of sports.

The hot debate this year is what the Houston Texans will do with the number one overall pick. Will they take can't-miss RB from USC Reggie Bush? Or is hometown boy QB Vince Young the way they will go? We know Matt Leinart is no longer a lock to go number two to the Saints, now that they have signed free agent QB Drew Brees. So is OT D'Brickashaw Ferguson a soon-to-be Saint? What will the Titans, at pick three, do if Steve McNair actually sticks to his guns and refuses to return to Tennessee? There are many interesting, drama-filled storylines that make this year’s draft one of the most intriguing in recent memory, and therefore, the million-dollar question comes to mind: which projected first round draft pick will have the most impact in the NFL?

    Hurricanes and Online Auctions
Wow there are so many garage sales in Hurricane Areas as people clean out their junk and decide to move because they cannot handle it anymore. This makes it a buyers' paradise for eBay sellers online. In fact there are so many sellers at garage sales that the stuff goes for pennies on the dollar and that means you can make a profit by selling it on eBay, of course you need to know a little bit about the prices on eBay and what things sell for as well. Hurricane ridden areas can give the eBay seller the edge and you should look into this and consider this in the future if you are a Professional eBay seller.Even better yet perhaps you have an auction website yourself and you maybe able to use this to your advantage. Think how many new Internet viewers might visit you if they knew people were Hurricane Victims? Maybe they might even bid higher than usual for various products to improve and help out the victims in the region? This could be a win-win for you if you got a small percentage of each sale. Perhaps you could

Exercise Bikes to Suit Every Budget
Exercise bikes are available in various types of models as well as costs to suit all budgets and needs of people. There are three types of exercise bikes and these are upright exercise bike, semi-recumbent exercise bike and recumbent exercise bike. Depending upon your need you can buy the one, which suits your needs. It's a great cardio vascular workout and helps one to lose calories easily as well as tone up the figure. The recumbent stationary cycle is as popular as the treadmill to burn the calories and attain a good and fit body. The recumbent exercise bikes help a person to reduce the blood pressure level. The person is seated very close to the floor. The feet of the person are near the chest level. Control panels display various readings and this helps a person on the recumbent exercise bike to see whether they are achieving the target that they had set for themselves. The control panel gives the readings for the pulse rate, heart rate, the number of calories burnt, the distance traveled etc. the biggest advantage is tha

Tricks For Single Parents Who Are Dating
So you're ready to start dating again, but you're not sure how your kids will handle it. Although their ages may make a difference in their reaction to your news, there are a few things you should do to help them ease into your new life as a single person.Make sure that you schedule time for family. Children often feel as if they've been pushed aside when Mom or Dad starts dating again. Create special rituals that you share with your children on a regular basis, like family dinners, family movies, or family reading time.Keep your dating and parenting life separate. Your children should not be your confidantes or best friends, and they don't need to know every little detail of the previous night's date.Don't start bringing an assortment of strangers around the house for your children to meet, especially if your kids are very young. They may get confused about your date's role in their lives and in your life. It's often best to wait to introduce a date to your children until you're certain he or she will be

    Create a Positive Work Environment
As a supervisor it is your responsibility to create and maintain a positive work environment. Without this you are setting yourself up for a high turn over rate, lower productivity, and a lot more work for yourself. When creating a positive work environment think about the climate of the workplace. How can it be improved? Are there any particular individuals that take away from having a positive work environment? Deal with these issues promptly. Every employee should know where you stand and what you expect from them. Lead by example, be a role model. Failure to praise and recognize your employees can take away from a positive work environment. Encourage your employees and praise work well done often; do this on a regular basis, publicly, and privately. Offer feedback to your employees; give them more guidance and instructions. Constructive criticism can also play a role in creating a positive work environment. In general, people want to better themselves and do a good job. Redesign the job to fulfill higher levels of ne
that make this year’s draft one of the most intriguing in recent memory, and therefore, the million-dollar question comes to mind: which projected first round draft pick will have the most impact in the NFL?

I think this is a very interesting question and one that can be debated until draft guru Mel Kiper gets a new hair-do. Everyone knows of the Bushes, Leinarts, and Youngs of the world. I have no doubt that all three of these players will eventually have good—if not great—NFL careers. What about the aforementioned D'Brickashaw Ferguson, the 6'6" 312-pound OT from the University of Virginia? He stacks up very well physically against some of the best OTs in the NFL. Walter Jones, Jon Runyan, and Tra Thomas just to name a few. There is also little doubt that Ferguson will be a very good player in the NFL. But one player who has somewhat flown under the draft experts’ radar will, in my opinion, not only have the most immediate impact in the NFL, but when all is said and done could be at the head of this year’s draft class. His name is Michael Huff, DB from the University of Texas. Yes, that is right, I said Michael Huff. Please allow me to explain.

There is little doubt that the NFL is a copy cat league. From week to week and season to season, teams study what works and they copy it. It is also a league of trends. Here are a few trends that will help make my poi
