Digg it UP - Role Of Self Help Groups In Conservation Of The Environment
Event Planning unity will have good heath and bad hygiene conditions are the cause for many of the dreadful disease like malaria, tuberculosis’s etc. With the stressful lifestyles that many of us have, we surely want to just go out, relax, have fun with people, or just celebrate. However, more often that not, these kinds of spontaneous and unplanned activities tend to fall flat. It could be that there was too much of something, be it food, people, wine, or activities all happening at the same time. Or maybe it could also be that there were things that were just lacking – music, friends, chips to munch on, or even decorations. But clearly what happened was that these events plainly lacked planning.Planning should be done, for this is an essential part of an event, especially momentous occasions like a wedding, an anniversary, a convention, or a contest of sorts. Each of these events may be different from each other in many ways; however, come to think of it, they also hold something familiar: They need thorough planning for them to be enjoyed by the people who would be taking part in them and also for them to be considered a success. If you are planning to celebrate a special occasion with something grand, do not be afraid to consult people who know how to plan events and who have successfully planned events in the past. Their knowledge could prove to be usefu The SHG’S take keen interest in spreading the message of cleanliness and hygiene among the community members. Their product portfolio also includes hygiene related products like sanitary napkins cleaning agents, Phenoil etc., The following are the areas in which the SHGs are working to improve the hygiene and living conditions of the village community. Drinking Water Unsafe drinking water is the main source of water borne diseases. In the rural areas getting safe drinking water is always problematic. The main source of their drinking water is that collected in the ponds and ditches during the monsoon. The NGOs and other Governmental organizations are working towards providing safe drinking water to the villages. To ensure that safe drinking water is made available to the majority of the community they help in digging bore wells and drinking water wells. This task of providing safe drinking water is also entrusted with the Self Help Groups. This goes a long way in eradication of diseases in many villages. Toilet Facilities The Self Help Groups are also creating Keep Displays Simple and Dramatic to Attract Attention arrest many ecological problems. If you’re putting together a display for an upcoming convention or trade show, consider these three rules: keep it simple, keep it colorful, and keep it dramatic.Conventions and trade shows generally take place in huge rooms, and small, overly busy displays can get dwarfed by the surroundings and by other displays. Your display needs to be sized proportionally to fit well with the other displays, and whatever lettering and photos or other art work incorporated into the display need to be seen and read or understood from across the room. Be sure to add plenty of color; broad areas of solid color are best as background for your informational material. Ideally the display should reflect the color scheme your company has chosen for its logo and other corporate marketing materials. If your media image is rather staid, brighten it up by using rich background display material. Of course, the background has to fit in with your image—rich golds and greens, perhaps, for a solid banking persona, something more high tech for a computer hardware manufacturing firm.Don’t add lots of text to your display; the basic information is best, augmented by brochures and other take-away material. Any Police Force Careers The tenth amendment to the constitution confers police powers on the states. There are more than 18,000 police agencies in America today. Police departments at the state level may consist of the State police and the Highway patrol. At the municipal/metropolitan level there may be the housing, school and special port police departments among others. There are about 15,000 municipal police departments in the U.S., but the NYPD enjoys a special status among them. It boasts of over 40,000 regular officers in addition to around 13,000 special purpose officers in different police departments such as animal cruelty, beach, harbor, hospital, housing, port, railroad, sanitation, school, and transit and transportation departments. There may then be specialized units under specific departments’ e.g. airborne, bomb, forensic, narcotic and sex crime units. There are numerous career opportunities in the police department with a number of vacancies being advertised regularly.Criteria For SelectionThe NYPD conducts a written examination for recruitment for which the candidate needs to be at least 17 ? years of age at the minimum and 35 years at the maximum in order to appear for the exam. The hiring criteria is that the applic India’s ongoing population explosion has placed great strain on the country’s environment. This rapidly growing population, urbanization and industrialization, have placed significance pressure on the country’s infrastructure and its natural resources. While deforestation, soil erosion, water pollution and land degradation continue to hinder economic development in rural India, rapid industrialization and urbanization in India’s booming metropolises at straining the limits of municipal services and causing serious air pollution problems. Not only are industrial pollution increasing public health risks, abatement efforts are also consuming a significant portion of our GDP. The government’s ability to safe guard the country’s environment will depend on its success in promoting policies that keep the economy growing and meet the populace requirements in an effective and sustainable manner. India has made significant efforts in the fields of environmental protection and also in developing protection standards for both products and processes. India’s strong supports of air quality and alternative fuel have been widely acknowledged. The role of Self Helps Groups (SHG) has assumed national attention in rural development instead of single beneficiary activities, group (10-20members) activities are broad based and rewarding. The Self Helps Groups are micro institutions, which contribute largely to the rural development and Environmental Conservation Programmes. This paper brings to the light the role-played by the NGO led Self Help Groups in preserving and conserving our environment. The concept of Self Help Group: A SHG is a group of about 20 people from a homogeneous class who come together, for addressing their common problems. The lower age limit for the member is 18 and the upper age limit is 60. The group members of SHG are encouraged to make voluntary thrift on a regular basis. They use this pooled resources to make small interest bearing loans to their members. The group has an animator to co-ordinate and two representatives from the members. The animator acts a leader of the group and help in smooth running of the group activities. Initiatives taken by the SHG’s in environmental related issues: Health: Good health stimulates economic growth and social stability, while reducing poverty and income inequality, promoting good health particularly benefits the poor who are largely dependent on their own labor for their livelihood. Many of the villages in India are so for untouched by the government health services. In order to make the health services accessible to all members of the communities the medium of Self Help Groups are used by the NGO’s to provide these services. The success of the health initiatives are closely linked to women’s self-help groups. These self help group play an important role in creating awareness about community issues and needs. The following are the areas in which SHG’s are actively engaging themselves in order to create awareness about health among the village communities. Health awareness programmes are run in villages in different form by the SHG’s with the help of Non Governmental Organisations (NOGs). They are - Health awareness Exhibitions. The Self Helps Groups are micro institutions, which contribute largely to the rural development and Environmental Conservation Programmes.A business mailing list is a collection of names and addresses used by a business organization or marketer to send promotional material to a targeted group of recipients. A targeted mailing list is a more cost-effective advertising strategy than the other tools of the trade. Directly contacting a specific group of people can help an advertiser skip the cost of sending the ad randomly to many people who might just ignore it.The first step of any marketing campaign is to define the market or audience. The more precisely the target audience is defined, the more effective the mail campaign, and the better the response will be. A better response means more money for the business. It is important to identify the appropriate group of recipients to make targeted business mailing lists work. This requires the advertisers to customize their message to this specific subscriber base, making the ad more relevant and more likely to be taken seriously. Better results and reduced costs are the pluses of this form of advertising, since the advertising is concentrated on smaller groups of people and makes effective use of services like bulk mailing.Business mailing lists fall into two separate categories based upon the source of This paper brings to the light the role-played by the NGO led Self Help Groups in preserving and conserving our environment. Building a filtration and reverse osmosis system to clean car wash water at a car wash and then reuse it for all the other water needs at the car wash such as landscaping, toilets and pressure washing the concrete and facilities. But the question is if someone produces such a system to do this, can they sell it and will car wash owners buy it?Business Marketing Student Paula Chavis has the whole thing worked out as she uses this innovative concept of hers for her project. She will have a team of sales people call on customers who are interested from advertising, website, catalogs and other sources. Now then one other point is that will also be needed to sell it will have to be a plan to PR the water conservation story to the community with a PR kit to make the sales team the choice for the carwash owner. Since there are other similar systems which the carwash owner once they have the idea may purchase instead, so this PR kit should include a plaque for their carwash lobby that they recycle and reuse water, some graphics for their website and press releases which your sales person hand delivers to their loca Many of the villages in India are so for untouched by the government health services. Do you have all the facts about that new business you are getting into?Let me tell you a story that would be true except I made if up from an old joke. George Hotshot, a traveling salesman, was driving down a southern country road when he noticed that a chicken was running along side his car. Being curious, he push on the accelerator. The chicken just kept running along side the car. Pretty soon, George was up to 60 mph. He pushed harder on the peddle and the chicken sped up too. Then the chicken took off into a farmer's yard.George slowed down, spun a U-turn and headed back to the farm. From habit, he noticed the farmer's name on the mailbox, Fred Fanslow.George perused the place, and decided the barn needed painting. He pulled into the barnyard. When he climbed out of the car, the dust was still flying around from the road chase. Fred Fanslow, the farmer, came out of the barn, scratching his head with that "Who in the heck are you?" look.George walked up to him, pulled a red handkerchief out of his back pocket to wipe the dust off of his glasses so he could see the farmer better, put out his hand and said, "I've been wanting to meet you, Fred. The Government and NGOs are also constructing Public toilets in the villages with the help of Self Help Groups. Other sanitary conditions: They are also educating the village community about the necessity of maintaining personal hygiene, keeping the food items closed, keeping the public places clean and proper disposal of solid and liquid waste. Nature preservation The SHGs are helping in the preservation of nature by producing the products by using the raw materials which are available locally there by they get livelihood in their own areas. This in turn helps in avoiding people moving out to urban areas in search of the livelihood. They also produce products which are non polluting to the environment and recyclable like paper bags, articles made from the wastes of plants and trees etc., Joint Forest Management The forest management in India experienced a pivotal change in 1990 when the ministry of Environment and forest, Govt of India issued policy guidelines for the joint forest management (JFM) to combat deforestation and degradation in the country. The JFM is a system of governance that devolves the responsibility of forest protection and management on ecosystem people in partnership with the state forest department for regeneration, efficient and sustainable conservation. People are organized into village forest committees (VFCS) at the village(s) level with executive committee (EC) elected by the VFC members. The EC takes the role of the regulator in monitoring the access to forests and also in regulating utilization of forester’s resources. Currently 27 Indian states have adopted JFM and over 63,000 FPCs are managing around 14 million hectare of forestlands. Suggestions for Sustained Environmental Conservation • Population control • Rain water harvesting • Conservation of sea and its resources • Controlling soil erosion • Controlling the emission of industrial pollutants • Using non chemical and hand made products. • Using bio-degradable and environment friendly articles • Conservation of natural forests and development of new forests • Cutting only dry trees • Energy saving • Banning the production of products which create pollution like plastic Bags • Using natural and bio fertilizers instead of chemical fertilizers. • Recycling the waste • Using non conventional energy source like Solar energy Hydro-power ,wind energy ,Energy from sea waves , Bio-gas etc, • Including the topics on environmental awareness and nature protection from the primary education Contribution of SHGs for the development of Society CONCLUSION The self-help groups activities are not only revolving around savings and credits but also integrating the socio economical & health issues into the various agendas of the groups. The role played by SHGs in conservation and preservation of environment contribute to development of the society. REFERENCES 1.
