Marketing Your Small Business: Radio Is The Advertising Solution You Are Searching For!
Small business owners are amazing. They have the courage to do what so many others only dream about. Small business owners also are challenged. They often are specialists. This makes them great at one or two aspects of their business but often lack the knowledge and skill in other areas. One area many business owners have little to no knowledge is how to effectively market their enterprise. For those businesses that rely on the customer coming into the store or rely on the customer calling to request a service, radio should be their weapon of choice. When you want to have others know something about you, do you write it down and hope they stop by the location it's written, your desk, you table, the bulletin board, and hope they read it or would it be m
Making Money From Your Web Site

You’ve created a great site with lots of great content and you have chosen your web host. So… big question… what’s next? Unless you are especially altruistic (and if you search the web, you’ll be surprised to see just how many people are), you’ll probably want to make some money out of your efforts. But how do you turn this stream of dots on a screen into a revenue stream? Here are a few pragmatic tips that might help… basic steps that will get you started and (hopefully) start you thinking.

How will people find my site?

Before you can make money from your site, people have to visit it - it’s as simple as that. Your first job then is to get people to visit your site. It doesn’t matter whether you have the best site in the world, if people can’t find it you are never going to get any visitors. Getting your site known means using search engines, and to get you started, that means submitting to a few of the key engines, particularly Google.

Luckily, there are a number of free web sites that help people to submit sites to search engines. The one I use is Addme.com. This has a very simple interface which guides you through submitting to a number of engines including Subjex, Alexa, Scrub The Web, FAST Search AllTheWeb, LookSeek, Jayde, InfoTiger, NerdWorld, Aeiwi, Walhello, LifeTips, ExactSeek, an

Leading Change - Don't Forecast Heroism
Leading change means making tough calls. There’s none tougher than making the calls regarding the scope, timing and resources of the project. One of the biggest mistakes leaders make is getting happy and caught up in the moment trying to impress the boss and making commitments you’re not able to keep. The biggest problem I see is when otherwise good leaders and managers reach out and forecast what I call ‘heroism’. With the war in Iraq right now we read daily of the exploits of some of our soldiers and Marines. They do some extraordinary things. They are heroes but heroism can’t be forecast, it just happens.I wrote a book called Dead Center about the exploits of a Marine sniper team in Vietnam. A couple of years after it came out I was traveling

If the Shoe Fits - The Soul of Customer Service
My Aunt Virginia worked selling shoes in a downtown department store. I remember listening to adult conversation, while I played. She talked about other clerks not caring for anything other than the sale and the resulting commission.Aunt Virginia’s main concern was always the fit. She even took extra care and effort with children, allowing for proper fit as well as allowing a little room to grow. It’s the concern that I remember most.Aunt Virginia is probably the reason why I fell in love with a classic training video, The Face in the Mirror. The star of the 1947 classic training film is James Dunn, who won an Academy Award for his role in A Tree Grows in Brooklyn. The Face in the Mirror tells the story of Ed, a marri

Winnie the Pooh and You… at the Tradeshow?
At first glance, there’s no connection between Disney’s Winnie the Pooh and tradeshows. The same is true of Piglet, Tigger, and the rest of the gang. What could this cuddly group of childhood favorites possibly teach us about exhibiting?Surprisingly, quite a bit. There are some very strong similarities between Winnie the Pooh and the other inhabitants of the Hundred Acre Woods and many tradeshow exhibitors. Don’t believe me? Take a look and see how many of your staffers you recognize:Winnie the PoohPooh Bear may be cute, cuddly and approachable -- but he’s also got one thing on his mind. What makes this roly poly bear happy? Honey, of course! He’s obsessed with the golden sweet -- when he’s not enjoying a meal, he’s in search of t

Retailing Quality Chess Sets Whilst Dealing With a Third World Country
Increased Competition - need for low costs of goods and time With a surge of online business, much competition is experienced accross all industries. With chess retailing many companies have sprung up to take advantage of what the internet affords us - a relatively easy way to put up a commercial store. The increased competition has had three main effects: 1. Now the goods have to the right goods, be of good quality and be worth their price. 2. The profit margin is reduced through the competition. 3. The cost of being seen by customers through such mediums as web advertising (adwords, etc.) has risen significantly as merchants see the front page as the new High Street/Mall.Therefore more than ever (and clearly set to become more critical) there

Most importantly, Addme.com gets you into Google. You might want to supplement this with a registration to MSN and Yahoo! (outside Google two of the biggest players) although I have never found registration to the latter particularly easy. Take a look around on the Internet - you might see others submission sites that I don’t know about that will help you out with Yahoo! In fact there are thousands of search engines you need to submit to, but for now, until the ball starts rolling, this will do. Don’t make the mistake many people do – don’t hit as many registration sites as possible in order to increase your chances of a good placing. It doesn’t work like that – submitting to the same engine many times actually does the opposite. In fact, it could get you completely banned from a search engine. And don’t submit specific pages of your web site as an alternative – it won’t help. The search engines are smart enough to recognize the similarities between www.yoursite.com and www.yoursite.com/page1.html!
