Learn How To Export To Mexico Using Trade Shows
Last year the show was an absolute success. There was representation of brands from all over the globe. Every year the expo receives thousands of buyers and sellers from all over the world. An interesting fact about the show, almost 50% of all exhibitors are foreign. It is expected that this year over 60% of all visitors will come to the show looking to fulfill their food service needs, searching for everything from equ
Today 50% of the paper industry’s raw material comes from recovered paper and board. Paper is the most recycled product in Europe, and Europe is the global champion in paper recycling with a rate of 55.4%. The paper industry has been a driving force in achieving that rate and is part of a new industry initiative to push it even higher, to 66% by 2010. The potential exists to make this target a reality and bring us closer to the EU goal of a ‘recycling society’. But there is also a gap between industry’s view of recovered paper as a raw material and public policy, which views it as waste. If recycling is to continue to move forward, this needs to be addressed.

The European paper industry competes on the global market and is one of the most competitive in Europe. [Not only that but have managed to combine being competitive with being sustainable.] There are however a range of factors directly affecting this competitiveness on an ongoing basis. These range from energy to exchange rates or from demand to environmental regulations. Some of these the industry can control, others are firmly outside of corporate influence. The industry knows that it must do what it can to boost competitiveness in the areas it can influence directly, e.g. R&D but it also recognises the need to work with legislators and other stakeholders to ensure that it maintains its competitive position - and continue to deliver superior environmental performance. Wood and recovered paper are amongst the most sustainable raw materials in the world because they are renewable and recyclable.

These unique qualities are central to the sustainable nature of the paper industry, but their benefits are not always recognised. For example, contrary to public opinion Europe’s forests are increasing not decreasing– by an area equivalent to 1.5 million football pitches every year -and responsible forest management is helping to drive this. Forests also have an important economic role beyond providing a renewable resource base; they also provide vital income and employment in rural areas and down the forest-based chain. However, policies impacting forests and the paper industry don't always reflect the 'big picture' on sustainability.

With waste a real problem both currently and for the future support for recycled products needs to be encouraged. We hope to both stimulate interest for existing recycled items and the development of new ones, particularly within the business gifts market.
