I'm sure there are many marketer's who do this already, but logically, and maybe for newcomers starting out, it doesn't make much sense. If search engines like content, then wouldn't the simple answer be provide relevant, tightly focused content on a specific niche? I believe it would. Another area where minisites might not be as effective is when they are setup to do more than one thing. Now this isn't the hard and fast rule, but seeing minisites that have other links for a visitor to click on, waters down the possibility of that visitor doing what you the marketer wanted that minisite to do. Has it been done before, probably so, and again, this isn't the bible on why minisites are effective. But it would seem that minisites would be effective by just focusing on one topic and for the minisite to have one objective.
