What's Black and Yellow and Read All Over?
It could be a month old banana with an interesting label, but it’s not. It happens to be the Yellow Pages and it’s actually been around well over 100 years since it started out as a pamphlet of local business listings in Wyoming. If you’re typical, you use them to find something at least once a week, according to national statistics. If not, you still know where to find them in your home or office, when the need does arise. So, what’s the big deal about the Yellow Pages, anyway?Well, if you are in business and have, or are considering, an ad, what do you really know about this unusual media? Let’s look at that last stat

Your Full Value: Do Your Customers Know It?
Do your customers (and potential customers) know the full value you bring to the table?   Before you automatically answer, “Of course, they do!”, consider this:   I was at a nail appointment recently and my nail technician mentioned that she had just put her father’s house on the market through a local REALTOR and had received an offer within 2 days.  She was probably going to accept the offer, since it was very close to asking price.  However, she then made the following comment:  “In fact, we’re going to go back to our REALTOR and ask her to reduce her commission because it sold so fast, and she doesn’t have to do any mo
My first experience of the power of a postcard came when I decided to print up a couple postcards on my personal printer and hit the streets to start my marketing campaign. These cards were just black ink on yellow paper, nothing fancy. I distributed approximately 50 cards to different business owners at a busy business community. I chose businesses because I thought they were my greatest prospects, since I was in the graphic design and printing business.

I must confess that it was not easy, but I was motivated simply because there were no other alternatives for me at the time. It was more of a survival situation for me. Another motivating factor was that before I could make it back to my little home office, I got a couple of calls. People were already starting to show interest.

    Businesses Become More Socially Concious
It's a brave new world. Effective management now means more than how you handle your staff. Management also includes how you manage your social reproducibility to others in your community. "There is no way to avoid paying serious attention to corporate citizenship: the costs of failing are simply too high. There are countless win-win opportunities waiting to be discovered: every activity in a firm's value chain overlaps in some way with social factors - everything from how you buy or procure to how you do your research - yet very few companies have thought about this. The goal is to leverage your company’s unique cap

Identifying And Selecting A Six Sigma Consultant
When tested quality programs such as Six Sigma are implemented the right way, process improvement in a company can result in tangible gains within 3 to 6 months. Employees feel satisfied and ultimately, the shareholders also benefit from the overall results. While it is possible for business owners to study quality initiatives and effect changes within their organization on their own, sometimes an external consultant with expertise in Six Sigma might be the best person to help lead the change. Consultants are immune to a company's internal politics and have the advantage of exposure to information and best practices from othe

I could go on and tell numerous stories of how I used postcards to initiate business contact, make sales, and build business relationships. However, I would like to summarize by giving some important facts:

I've never stopped using postcards. Why? Because after experimenting with many marketing methods over the years, I've come to the conclusion that postcards, whether by direct mail, distribution, or however you choose to use them are very effective marketing tools. I don't use simple black ink anymore, because the cost of color postcards has gotten so cheap. It makes better sense to use a professional postcard with color and graphics.

Here are the reasons why you cannot neglect the postcard as a part of your marketing resource plan.
