Now what would be the benefit if a business, an area or an entire city offered Internet access for free, maybe with individual download limits per month. Well a very large number of businesses, restaurants and public buildings like libraries in the US and Europe offer wireless Internet for free using our own laptop. Recent studies have showed in the case of the businesses and restaurants they are more profitable and far more popular than their competitors and library patronage is up which is having positive effects on community literacy levels and local employment and also reducing criminal and anti-social behaviour like graffiti. Once again Australia seems to be lagging behind though only focussing on the cost.
