Of course I found out later that the real movie name was Studio 54... So I made the mistake by guessing the wrong name for the movie, however I already bought the URL and thus I had no other choice than to use it. And after a while it turns out that the name has really neat ring to it and suits perfectly the idea of the site.

There I was, with nothing to do and myspace open in front of me. I was looking at another day of spam on my profile and nothing really to do. Bulletins weren't much use, but they were the only things that kept giving me something new to look at, apart from the odd begging for comments. And then I started thinking; Myspace is a huge site, but there isn't much to do. It proves itself useful for advertisers (the sheer volume of advertising comments is proof of that). But once you set up your profile, how do u get it noticed? - by begging for comments and adding random people. Oh and lets not forget never ending band profiles requesting your friendship....

That's when I started hatching a plan. Why not create a website, that provides a good environment for communication with new features combined with old ones. The problem I saw with myspace was that in order to get noticed, you had to be unique, talented or famous. What about everyone else who are still cool and just as worth my time as the others? My idea - to create environment where your pictures/profile would get noticed easily, a place to hang out, tune into music while chatting with others and get to know other people in this small but diverse, country of ours. That is the idea behind Club57 - The original name for the site was GoinOut.co.uk - yes I do own the URL for that. However the problem is – even though the name sounds good, we were missing one letter in that address, letter 'G'. And if we tried to promote the site people would end up writing the address incorrectly : goin'G'out.co.uk - as that is the correct spelling when you hear the word. Unfortunately the URL www.goingout.co.uk - was owned by someone else and thus we could not use ours. As you can imagine we didn't want people to end up on the other site.

So we ditched the name and I was in need of a new one...

In the movie(and in real life) it was very popular and was a hangout for the rich and famous, I mean the movie was quality stuff. There you go - I was thinking of a great name, and based it on a movie I liked and got the name wrong. Oh well better luck next time, eh?

I've seen many rating sites, however none of them was well built or had anything that attracts us to them. Also, you didn't get any benefit from rating other pictures; You chose hot or not - and on the main page u get the pictures with 10 grades and that it.... That's why i created a grading system that would reward the user who grades and also represents a more realistic view of how much the picture is liked. That's where the point system came in. Safety and Security of users was another issue that I thought needs to be addressed. That is why Club57 is unique - pictures that are used for grading, require administration approval.
